In 1783, a little girl by the name of Sarah Witcher lost her way in the woods of Warren, New Hampshire. Sarah was lost for several days despite the massive search efforts that have commenced in the area.
As the legend states, Sarah was protected by a black bear until her rescue.
This is believed to be a true story. As a result, some books were written about Sarah Witcher: The Bear That Heard Crying by Natalie Kinsey-Warnock and Sarah Witcher’s Story by Elizabeth Yates.
