Coliseum Falls is located in Livermore, New Hampshire and offers a 20 foot total drop in a secluded forest atmosphere. The falls are located at the bottom of a gorge. The hike to Coliseum Falls is a bit tricky for the inexperienced hiker but not impossible. What makes the hike to Coliseum Falls harder than normal is the footing, there are a lot of roots and rocks so be sure you have good hiking footwear.
While viewing Coliseum Falls, if you turn around and look behind you, you will see a fairly steep trail. At first glance it doesn’t really look like a trail but if you look closely your will see the markers on the trees. If you take this trail be extra careful on this part of the hike. It is very steep, but do-able. Some places you have to use your hands to grab onto roots to stabilize yourself but it’s not “Straight up.” You will end up on the Arethusa Falls trail at the top of the gorge. You can choose to walk back to the trail head by taking a right or head to Arethusa Falls by taking a left (straight) which is well worth the extra hike to Arethusa Falls.
