The Amoskeag Fishways Fish Ladder is open all year round Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm. The fish ladder is open everyday during the fish migration season (may and June).
The fish ladder is a man made structure that is made of 54 steps to provide means for migrating fish to get around the Amoskeag Dam in Manchester NH.. The Amoskeag Dam is a hydro-electric dam.
The Amoskeag Fishways offers guided tours of the fish ladder and the exhibits at the Amoskeag Fishways. They also offer school field trip programs. The Amoskeag Fishways was built in 1995. PSNH entered into a partnership with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, the NH Audubon, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Together, they formed the Amoskeag Fishways Partnership.
