Mt. Orne covered bridge is located on Mt. Orne Rd near NH Rt. 135 and extends over the Connecticut River from Lancaster, NH to Lunenburg Vermont.
Mt. Orne Covered Bridge was constructed in 1911 and is listed in the World Guide of Covered bridges, number 29-04-08, and is New Hampshire covered bridge #30.
The original bridge at this site was built in the late 1800’s but was destroyed by a log jam in 1908, it was later rebuilt. In 1969 a salt truck broke through the bridge and landed on the ice below. The salt from the truck spilled onto the ice and threatened to melt the ice that held the salt truck from breaking through.
