Rowell Covered Bridge (Aka Rowell’s Bridge) is located on Clement Hill Rd and connects Clement Hill Rd to Maple St. (Rt. 127) in Hopkinton NH and crosses the Contoocook River.
Rowell Covered Bridge was built in 1853 and is listed in the World Guide of Covered bridges (WGCB), number 29-07-08 and is New Hampshire covered bridge #9.
Rowell Covered Bridge in Hopkinton was shaken from it’s abutments by a heard of cattle soon after the bridge was built in the mid 1800’s. Rowell Covered bridge was shaken by the cattle so much that it required repairs to get the bridge back where it belonged and secured in place. It was events like this that prompted the state of New Hampshire to put low speed limits on the covered bridges in NH.
