White Mountains Attractions

In the beautiful woods in New England, you can find the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Here, in the summer you can camp, swim in the many lakes and bays, where canoeing and kayaking take place in the heat of the summer day. During the winter, the white snow capped mountains make a beautiful place to create works of “snow art.” The White Mountains have it all.

On Little Ossipee Lake, is Danforth Bay, near the sight of the Danforth Bay Camping Resort. This 185 acre campground is complete with 300 sites to camp in tents or RVs. The camp resort services with two pools, (one salt water, and the other fresh) a kitty pool with a water slide, and two full service beaches. For all athletic needs, the resort houses three tennis courts, two volleyball courts, a baseball field, a basketball court, hiking trails, biking trails, and archery. Since being located on the beach, canoes, kayaks, and motor boats are up for rent to go fishing, or just go out on the lake, or the nearby brook.

With sites available, which include, septic, water, electricity, cable, and wi-fi, Danforth Bay can house all of your non-camping needs. The prices range from $43 to $74 per day for sites, depending on your amenities, and rentable cabins on the water for $122 per day. This is considered cost affordable for hours of family fun!

Each week at Danforth Bay is themed. Themes range from “water olympics” to “Who’s Got the Talent”. From “Old Western,” to “Christmas in July.” During the week, the teen activities directors put on events, arts & crafts, and shows that correspond with the week.

This is just one of the many campgrounds in the White Mountains. The others include but are most definitely not limited to Ammonoosuc campground, Green Meadow Campground, Twin River Campground, White Birches Campground, Glen-Ellis Campground, Moose Hillock Camp Ground, and Timberland Campground, all beautiful places to enjoy some quality family fun in the summer.

If you are not the camping type, there are many other options in the White Mountains. Some favorites for kids and families are Santa’s Village, for a little Christmas in the summer. Tickets for a day here cost nothing for children 3 and under, $26.00 for people 4 and older, and $24.00 for seniors 62 and older.

There is also Story Land, for all your prince and princesses’ fairy-tail needs. This costs only $27.99 per person for people ages three and up, $24.99 per person in the active military, $25.99 per person for seniors ages 60 and up, and free for children 2 and under.

There is also a personal favorite of mine, Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves. This magical landscape shows the true beauty of nature, and all of it’s makings. This state park shows off the true beauty of what New Hampshire is known for. The park is made of deep, flowing waterfalls, paths in and out of the valley, crystal-clear brooks, streams, and a river, caves, large and small, and to climb into, out of and through the park.

Whatever your outdoor interests, the White Mountains of New Hampshire have it. Old or young, from ages one to ninety-nine, this is where you can find it.
