Bristol Motor Speedway (formally known as Bristol International Speedway) was never a football stadium. It does look like one though.

Interesting to note that in 2005, Bruton Smith (same owner as NHMS) did attempt to get a college football game to be played in the infield of the track, He was going to give each team 2 million dollars to play the game at the Bristol racetrack. I think it was University of Virginia and Tenneesee University.

There was a game played there back in the 60's that Larry Carrier and Carl Moore promoted.

The first year it operated, there was an exhibition game with the NFL, between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles. This photo http://bit.ly/GNZSyA shows a pic from the first race, and if you look close, the goal posts are still in the infield.

That's a very cool photo! I did see the goal posts but I had to view the image in another window to get it a little bigger, might be just my eyes.

Funny how they had a football game at Bristol Motor Speedway when it DIDN'T look like a football stadium!

              Thanks for sharing!!
