America's Oldest Billboard

America's oldest billboard is said to be located in the small town of Sandwich New Hampshire.

America's oldest billboard is about 2-1/4 miles from the start of Sandwich Notch Rd in Sandwich NH. Chiseled into a rock overhang along the road is:

"P. Wentworth 6mls 1838"

America's oldest billboard was used to let people know that Paul Wentworth's store was 6 miles ahead.

America's oldest billboard may have something to do with the invention of the billboard but that, so far, cannot be proven.

Across the street from America's oldest billboard are "Devil's Footprints" said to be rock that was carved out by glacial ice thousands of years ago. These smooth indents look like footprints, which is how they got their name, not sure where the "Devil" part comes in though.
