Question can you tap a maple tree near a septic system?

just curious. i have a maple tree which is very close to the leach field of my septic system. i would say about 5 feet away from the leach field and about 10 feet away from the septic tank itself.

is it ok to tap the tree for maple sap? just dont wan to get anyone sick from putting maple syrup on their pancakes!

Honestly, I'd be more concerned about the proximity of the tree in regards to your septic system...you might want to consider having that tree cut down, rather than risk damage to your septic system.

i plan on taking the tree down when the septice gets replaced. its 16 years old an dis showing signs its on its way out so for now i will tap the tree and see how it goes.
